What is Occupational Therapy?

Occupational therapy may include comprehensive evaluations, training, education, and treatment for people of all ages with physical, cognitive, or sensory problems.

Occupational therapists can help clients develop, recover, improve, as well as maintain the skills needed for daily living and working.

Common problems or concerns treated include:

  • Self-care skills
  • Daily living skills
  • Sensory integration
  • Motor skills
  • Cognitive skills
  • Attention
  • Emotional regulation
  • Social skills
  • And more!

How to get started

A referral is required from the individual's primary physician in order to complete an occupational therapy evaluation.

THE NEXT STEPS

Once a referral is received, an intake packet will be sent to the client and/or caregivers to be completed. After the intake packet is completed, an occupational therapy evaluation can be scheduled. The initial evaluation will determine the strengths and weaknesses of the client and what goals will be addressed during treatment sessions.

Payment

Nicole Bertke OTR/L, LLC accepts Medicaid, Medicare, Anthem, Caresource, and self-pay.

Treatment sessions

Treatment sessions will typically be scheduled once a week for 1-hour. The client and/or caregivers will be notified if there is a change in the schedule.
